How to Find the Mobile Ad ID on Apple and Android Devices
April 4, 2022 by
The mobile advertising ID, also known as a mobile ad ID or a MAID, is a sequence of alphanumeric characters assigned to a mobile phone or tablet by the device’s operating system, either iOS or Android.
MAIDs are used by marketers, advertisers and app publishers to anonymously identify, understand and target mobile device and app users.
(Are you marketer or advertiser and interested in learning how to target location-based audiences? We’re glad to give you a demo.)
Here’s how to find your mobile advertising ID on your device:
iOS Device
Apple’s mobile ad ID is known as the IDFA, short for ID for advertisers. The IDFA on an iOS device is hidden by default. It can be accessed using a third-party app. There are several free apps available on the App Store that allow you to know your device’s IDFA. You can see those apps here.
Android Device
Google’s mobile ad ID is known as the AAID, short for Android advertising ID. To find your device’s AAID, open the Settings app on your Android device and click on Ads. Your AAID is listed at the bottom of the screen.
Resetting your Mobile Ad ID
Resetting your MAID may alter your settings for ad preferences and therefore may require you to reset those preferences.
