August 1, 2019 by
Reveal Mobile, a leader in location-based marketing and foot traffic attribution, has been awarded patent 15/679,694 by the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
The broad patent for “Determining High Value Geographic Locations” covers determining audience locations of interest through the use of machine learning algorithms. Through a privacy-compliant approach, the patent outlines the proprietary technology to clustering location events to determine the most relevant locations to a given device.
The “Point Rank” algorithm first evaluates and clusters location events to determine residential vs. non-residential. It next ascribes a score to those locations to determine their ultimate relevance. Finally, the process periodically updates the score based upon new data to determine the continued importance of a specific location.
“This new patent helps validate the efforts we continually undertake to build a best-in-class solution for digital marketers, while ensuring that we remain compliant with current and future privacy regulations”, says CEO Brian Handly. “With the continued growth of location-based marketing and attribution, this patent positions our company very well within the data ecosystem”.
